VILLA EL SARGENTO MEXICO

A new modern 3,600 sq. ft. villa designed for a 2 acre parcel located in El Sargento Mexico. El Sargento once a fishing village and now popular for water sports primarily known for kite surfing due to coastal winds . The initial brief and concept inception was for a “U” shaped plan with a central courtyard for entertaining and interior protection from hurricane storms occurring off the Sea of Cortez coast.

The overall concept was for a low protective horizontal form and “U'“ shaped plan which would allow for storms to pass over and around. The entire structure is concrete- CIP and CMU with deep in-set tall windows and doors with extended full-height vertical wall fins for added storm protection. A second floor roof lounge was incorporated for outdoor use and providing for an additional central entertaining area with views of the Isla Jacques Cousteau and Cortez Sea beyond. The concrete structure provides for high thermal insulation requiring lower air & heat conditioning requirements. The structure is “off-grid” and completely independent of outsourced energy by utilizing a fully automated high-efficiency photovoltaic panel array system at roof level providing 15KW of power. Domestic, irrigation water systems incorporating recycling, greywater, collection and septic are all local on site and independent.
